What is Zoom™ WhiteSpeed?

At Bangkok Smile MALO DENTAL, Philips ZOOM!™ WhiteSpeed is the gold-standard in-clinic whitening system — and the most popular professional whitening procedure in the world. If you’re tired of hiding your teeth every time you smile, Zoom can safely lighten the colour of your teeth and reduce discolouration and staining in a single 60-minute appointment.

The term “teeth whitening” can refer to many different techniques to improve the brightness of your teeth. Zoom WhiteSpeed sits at the top of that range: a clinically proven, dentist-administered system that delivers bigger, faster shade improvements than home kits or take-home trays can match — with carefully managed sensitivity throughout.

Bangkok Smile MALO DENTAL was ranked and awarded the #1 Dental Clinic in Thailand performing the Philips ZOOM!™ Whitening System for 2016–2018. This guarantees our excellence in performance and the effective, repeatable results we deliver to every patient.

Our recognition as Thailand's #1 Zoom provider

In March 2018, Dr. Sermsakul “Bob” Wongtiraporn — CEO of BSD Group (Bangkok Smile MALO DENTAL) — was personally awarded the #1 Provider for Teeth Whitening Services using the Philips ZOOM!™ Whitening System for the year 2018, at our Sukhumvit 21 branch.

That recognition wasn’t a one-off. It reflects three consecutive years (2016–2018) of leading every other clinic in Thailand for Zoom case volume and outcomes — and a clinical approach to whitening built on careful diagnosis, careful protection of soft tissue, and careful management of sensitivity throughout each session.

Why this matters for you

  • Volume builds expertise — performing more Zoom sessions than any other clinic in Thailand means our team has handled every variation: heavy tetracycline staining, fluorosis, age-related yellowing, and the everyday coffee/tea/red-wine cases.
  • Calibrated to Philips standards — equipment, isolation technique and post-treatment protocols audited annually as part of our top-provider status.
  • Predictable results — we tell you at consultation, with a shade guide and your own teeth, what you can realistically expect — not a marketing promise.
  • Effective on a wide range of stains — coffee, tea, red wine, tobacco, soft-drink staining, and many forms of intrinsic discolouration respond well.

The Zoom WhiteSpeed process

Treatment is completed in a single 60-minute appointment. The session is broken into four short bleaching cycles with the WhiteSpeed lamp, with sensitivity checked between each:

  1. Consultation & starting shade — your dentist examines your teeth, identifies the cause of discolouration, and records your starting shade with a Philips reference guide so the improvement can be measured at the end.
  2. Lip retractor & soft-tissue isolation — your lips and cheeks are gently held back, and a protective barrier is painted over the gums to keep the bleaching gel exclusively on the enamel.
  3. Zoom gel + WhiteSpeed lamp — the proprietary 25% hydrogen-peroxide gel is applied across the upper and lower front teeth, then the WhiteSpeed LED accelerator is positioned in front of the mouth. The lamp activates the gel without significantly heating the tooth.
  4. Four 15-minute cycles — between each cycle we rinse, suction, reapply gel and check in with you. A prearranged hand signal lets you communicate any sensitivity instantly.
  5. Final shade verification & desensitiser — barriers are removed, you rinse, and we record your new shade against the same guide. A post-treatment relief gel is applied to minimise any short-term sensitivity.

Post-treatment aftercare

The first 48 hours after your Zoom session are the most important. The treatment temporarily opens the dentinal tubules, leaving the enamel briefly more receptive to staining. A simple rule of thumb: anything that could stain a white shirt could stain your teeth right now — so avoid them.

The 48-hour rule

Strictly avoid coffee, tea, red wine, curry, berries, dark sauces (soy, balsamic, tomato), tobacco and brightly coloured drinks for the first 48 hours. Drink water, eat light-coloured foods (chicken, fish, rice, pasta with white sauce, white cheese), and use a straw for anything stronger if you must.

Managing short-term sensitivity

Some patients experience mild thermal sensitivity for a day or two — this is self-limiting and resolves on its own. The post-treatment relief gel applied at the end of your session minimises this. If needed, over-the-counter anti-inflammatories such as ibuprofen, or a potassium-nitrate desensitising toothpaste, can help.

Maintaining your new shade

From 48 hours onwards, your results can last from one to several years depending on lifestyle and oral hygiene. A take-home Zoom touch-up tray for occasional use at home can keep your shade looking fresh between professional cleanings. Routine 6-monthly cleanings prevent surface stains from building back up.

Frequently asked questions

How many shades whiter can I expect?

Most patients achieve a dramatic improvement of several shades in the single 60-minute session — and many lift up to 8 shades. The exact result depends on your starting shade and the cause of the discolouration. We record your starting and finishing shades against the Philips reference guide so the change is measurable, not just visual.

Zoom WhiteSpeed uses an LED accelerator tuned to a 25% hydrogen-peroxide gel — delivering bigger, faster shade lift than take-home trays or supermarket strips can achieve, with much better control over sensitivity and soft-tissue safety. Compared to laser whitening, Zoom is the most clinically studied in-chair system, with the largest body of evidence for predictable results. We offer both — your dentist will recommend which fits your case best.

For most patients the session is completely comfortable. You may feel occasional zaps or tingles during the 15-minute cycles — this is normal, which is why we agree a hand signal before starting. If you experience more than mild sensitivity, we shorten the cycle or apply additional desensitiser. The relief gel applied at the end of treatment minimises any short-term thermal sensitivity.

Provided you follow the 48-hour aftercare advice, your new shade can last from one to several years. Longevity depends on diet, smoking habits and oral hygiene routine. Patients who add a take-home Zoom touch-up tray to their package can maintain peak shade indefinitely with periodic at-home use.

No — bleaching only works on natural enamel. Existing porcelain crowns, veneers and composite fillings will stay the same shade they were before. If your front teeth include any of these restorations, we’ll plan around them: typically by whitening first, then replacing or matching restorations to the new shade. We discuss this at consultation so there are no surprises.
